Resting Power = Staying Power,

Resting Power = Staying Power. This principle of truth guards our walk with God. Without “Resting Power,” we give our strength to the lust of the flesh and the enticements of the world, resulting in a defeated walk with God. Our obedience to habitually enter into “The Rest of God” keeps us from carrying the heavy burdens of life.

Matthew 11:28-30 (TPT);

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to Me. I will refresh your life, for I Am your oasis.” “Simply join your life with mine, Learn My Ways and you’ll discover that I’m Gentle, Humble, Easy to Please. You will find refreshment and rest in Me.” “For, all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”

Rest is an “Oasis” of Recovery for a weary soul and brings us face to face with, “The Omnipotent God!” It is within this place of Holy Intimacy and Divine Refreshment that we can safely lay our burdens down.

Psalm 55:22 (AMPC);

“Cast your burdens on The Lord [releasing the weight of it and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).”

Jesus Christ’s invitation to “Simply join our life with Him” revives us, spirit, soul, and body! To ignore these “times of refreshing” is to ignore The Word of God and resist the “Resting Power” that can only be found in Him. When we are obedient to “Cast our burdens on The Lord,” we are cultivating the “Staying Power” that it takes to run and finish our race well. Never forget, my friend, that our “Staying Power Stamina” in The Kingdom of God is determined by our “Resting Power” in Him.

WHAT IS STAYING POWER?

Oxford Languages Dictionary:

STAYING POWER = The ability to maintain an activity or commitment despite fatigue or difficulty. Stamina.

Collins Dictionary:

STAYING POWER = If you have Staying Power, you have the strength or determination to keep going until you reach the end of what you are doing.

When we don’t “cast our burdens on The Lord,” we don’t rest well or have the “Staying Power” to keep going. That’s why Jesus encourages us to get our “Resting Power” from Him. He is our “Oasis” in times of testing and trouble. We can trust Him in every season of our life, spirit, soul, and body.

Ephesians 6:10 (AMPC);

“In conclusion, be strong in The Lord [be empowered through your union with Him], draw your strength from Him [that strength which His Boundless Might Provides].”

RESTING IS A TEST

What kind of Test?

REST IS A TEST OF TRUSTING IN GOD!

Proverbs 3:5-8 (TPT);

“Trust in The Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on Him to guide you, and He will lead you in every decision you make.” “Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go.” “Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore Him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong.” “Then you will find the healing refreshment your body and spirit long for.”

Wow! These scriptures say it all! When we choose to retreat into the “Resting Power” of God, we are placing our “trust completely in The Lord.” Developing true intimacy with Him. How?…. By not “relying on our own opinions.” It is from this place of humility and total trust in God that our heart surrenders to The Guidance of The Holy Spirit. Now “every decision that we make,” is one of Divine Purpose backed by the overcoming “Resting Power” of Almighty God!

1st Peter 5:7 (MEV);

“Cast all your care upon Him, because He cares for you.”

“Trusting in God” is indicative of His Lordship in our lives. By “casting all our care upon Him,” we pass the “Rest Test.” Trust reveals our heart of “adoration of Him with undivided devotion.” This total Trust and Honor of God in our lives give us the “Resting Power” to “avoid everything wrong.” Glory to God! Now we find “the healing refreshment that our body and spirit long for.” “Resting Power” in God’s Wisdom and not ours guards us against the snare of a “counterfeit rest,” from the enemy of our soul.

COUNTERFEIT REST

The ploy of the enemy is to entice us into a “counterfeit rest” where we “exchange God Who Is our Glory for the image of an ox!”

Psalm 106:19-22 (AMPC);

“They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a molten image.” “Thus they exchanged Him Who was their Glory for the image of an ox that eats grass [they traded their Honor for the image of a calf}!” “They forgot God their Savior. Who had done such great things in Egypt.” “Wonders and miracles in the land of Ham, dreadful and awesome things at the Red Sea.”

When we, like the rebellious children of Israel, “forget God our Savior,” we are taking matters into our own hands, which creates “idols of the self-life.” Relying on our strength, ideals, and pursuits, we forfeit the “Resting Power” of God. Choosing to embrace the “counterfeit rest” of the enemy, glorifying “the work of our hands.”

Psalm 115:4 (AMPC);

“The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.”

WHERE ARE YOU RESTING, MY FRIEND?

Psalm 115:8 (TPT);

“Dead men can only create dead idols. And everyone who trusts in these powerless, dead things will be just like what they worship-powerless and dead.”

The enemy is counting on driving us into the arms of lifeless idols. Adulterous lovers, the overtime clock of a demanding employer or our refusal to “wait for His plans to develop regarding our lives,” ref. Psalm 106:13 (AMPC) etc. It is within this “counterfeit rest” of self-deception and death that we “exchange God Who is our Glory for the image of an ox!”

RECEIVE YOUR “RESTING POWER”

Isaiah 40:29 (AMPC);

“He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].”

It is essential to recognize the need to “Receive Our Resting Power from God.” When we don’t, we invite a “hard-heartedness” to set into our walk with Him. Just like the children of Israel did. Not only will this affect our relationship with God, but it will also affect the “Staying Power” of every other relationship in our lives. However, if we humble ourselves at the times that we are “faint and weary,” God Promises to “Increase our Strength!” Not only that, He Will,[multiply our strength and make it to abound]!”

REVIVED AND REFRESHED

Psalm 68:9 (TPT);

“You, O God, sent the reviving rain upon Your weary inheritance, showers of blessing to refresh it.”

My friend, God has sent “His Resting Power” to “revive and refresh” us! We must never allow the enemy to tell us that “Resting” is quitting, lazy, unproductive, unnecessary, getting behind, or (one of the biggest lies) a sign of weakness. If we don’t periodically take the time to physically pull away from the demands of life and “rest,” we will deplete our “Staying Power.” God called us to, “pray and be free!”

PRAY AND BE FREE

It’s time to “pray and be free” from the “counterfeit rest” of the enemy!

Philippians 4:6-8 (TPT);

“Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell Him every detail of your life,” “then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.” “So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always.”

In these scriptures from Philippians, the Apostle Paul gifts us with “Resting Power = Staying Power,” insight from The Heart of God. He is our “True Power Source,” my friend! Fully rested, we are “Soaring in Him!”

Isaiah 40:31 (AMPC);

“But those who wait for The Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”
