And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4
Something happens when we walk in agreement! Did you know many theologians believe that the 10 commandments were given to Moses on Pentecost? Or that King David was born on Pentecost? Pentecost is a significant day for God to suddenly release “new things”!
The Day of Pentecost in Acts was a fulfillment of a promise – the promise of the Holy Spirit.
“Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 7:2-3, NIV
Pentecost also has to do with the “Constitution;” the habits and principles of living within a structure mandated by God. It is His Word that allows us the fullness of His Spirit and abundant life. It is extremely significant to remind ourselves to apply the principles and patterns of the Word of God! When I say, “apply,” I mean “really do them.” Doing what the Bible says to do is not always easy, but we have a Helper and a Counselor. We have His power within us!
Pentecost pushes us to the principles and patterns of God – the ways He made the world to operate; His ways of living that govern your life! The laws of God are always working – for you or against you. God’s order exists regardless of our acceptance or denial of His awesome proper arrangement of all things. We might as well ‘go with His flow!’
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19, KJV
God’s plan for the earth is established in and by His Word! The world is made up of things that are unseen, and framed by the Word of God (Hebrews 11:3). He spoke the world into existence, and His Word is timeless and pure – it carries the power to create. He forms the unborn in the womb; He calls those things that are not as though they were; He says the Word and the whole universe falls into line; He causes new things to spring forth; He knows every hair on our head; He loves us with an everlasting love. Let’s think about How He did the creation:
“In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:1-3 KJV [Emphasis mine]
What does this have to do with Pentecost? As you discover the meaning of this divine appointment, it actually has a lot to do with getting you in alignment with the practices of God through His Word.
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11, KJV
The Word of God WILL work for you… if you work it! It’s a whole different way of living victoriously! Just as an earthly nation cannot function properly without God’s laws, so a “Holy Nation” of his New Covenant representatives on earth cannot function without His POWER living in them! Activate His power, and cause the things of God to come booming forth in your life, by walking according to His Word! When we are walking in accordance with His principles, we position ourselves to receive the outpouring of His Holy Spirit! When you have the power of His grace, the wisdom in His Word, and the supernatural Holy Spirit to empower you, you can do what He has said to do!
